Partnership - Neuchâtel in Samara this summer

The Canton of Neuchâtel and Samara Region signed in 2014 an Interregional Partnership to strengthen their economic and scientific ties. Their economies are both highly industrialized and, according to Alain Barbal, Samara offers long-term development perspective to Swiss companies.

An important delegation from the Canton of Neuchâtel will be visiting Samara Region during the first week of June this summer. Led by the Ministry of Economy and Social Affairs, Mr. Jean-Nathanaël Karakash, about 20 CEOs and business representatives, heads and researchers of scientific and academic institutions as well as government representatives will explore the Region’s potential for cooperation.

Coordinated by the Swiss Center Samara, the five-days program will include meetings with regional ministries, visits of cutting-edge R&D centers in the fields of space, engineering and medical sciences, visits of production facilities among which AvtoVAZ and subcontractors as well as Technopark and open exchanges with highly skilled speakers.

On the 2nd of June, the delegation will take part in the International Forum “Russian-Swiss Innovation Day” with speakers from the CSEM (Swiss Center for Electronics and Microtechnology), the EPFL (Federal Polytechnic University of Lausanne) and innovative companies such as P&TS (Experts in Intellectual Property).

We take this opportunity to inform our readers that the Canton of Neuchâtel and Samara Region signed a partnership agreement in 2014 with the objective of developing and strengthening commercial, industrial and scientific ties between the two regions and countries. In addition to this institutional agreement, Neuchâtel was appointed “Honorary Canton of Switzerland in Russia” in 2016 by its Excellency Mr. Pierre Helg, the Swiss Ambassador of Switzerland to the Russian Federation.
